Literature Text

The 18 residents of Playa De Losers become bored when the rain from the 23rd episode of TDI comes their way, until a certain home-schooled boy cheers them all up.

"Man, this sticks!" Cody said.
They all couldn't go out to the courtyard and go swimming, get in the hot tub, or do anything fun!
"We've done anything that could be done" Noah said, setting down his SIXTH book.
"There's nothing to do!" Harold said, sighing as he played his keyboard boredly.
"Rain sucks" Eva said, leaning against the wall as she was doing some reps with a 150 lb dumbbell.
"Nonsense!" said a new, happy, voice.
They all looked towards the entryway and saw the first voted off camper, Ezekiel, standing there.
"Rain is a good thing" Ezekiel said with a smile.
"But it keeps people locked inside" Bridgette said.
"And you can't throw a good pool party when it rains" Geoff said.
Ezekiel smiled.
"Trent, can I see your guitar, eh?" he asked.
Trent cocked his eyebrow.
"Uh, sure…" he said unsurely, handing it to him.
"Can you play?" he asked.
"Pfft," Courtney said "he probably only knows how to pay a banjo, or some other hick instrument."
Zeke actually laughed, being in a great mood.
"Be that as it may little-miss-CIT; I also know a little guitar." he said to Courtney and then to Trent.
He tuned it for a minute, picking up a pick that Trent left on the lobby couch.
"I got a song that I think can cheer ALL OF YOU up!" he said as he tuned it.
After a minute he began to play it, and very good for that matter! After a little bit of playing he actually began to SING (and he wasn't bad at THAT either!)

"My daddy spent his life lookin' up at the sky" he sang "He'd cuss, kick the dust, sayin' 'son it's way too dry'!"
"If it clouds up in the cit-AY, the weather man complains!
But where I come from; rain is a good thing!"

"Rain makes corn. Corn makes whiskey.
Whiskey makes my baby, feel a little frisky!" Zeke sang, making everyone (but Eva) laugh at the concept of Ezekiel having a girlfriend.
"Back roads are boggin' up, my buddies pile up in my truck!
We hunt our hunnies down! We'd take em into town!
Start washin' all our worries down the drain!
Rain is a good thing!"

"Ain't nothin' like a kiss, out back in the barn.
Ringin' out our soakin' clothes, ridin' out a thunderstorm.
The tin roof gets to talkin! That's the best love we made!
Yeah, where I come from; rain is a good thing!"

"Rain makes corn. Corn makes whiskey.
Whiskey makes my baby, feel a little fris-kay!" Zeke sang "Back roads are boggin' up, my buddies pile up in my truck!
We hunt our hunnies down! We'd take em into town!
Start washin' all our worries down the drain!
Rain is a good THI-I-ING!" he shouted.
He began to play a solo on the guitar the surprised everyone.

"Farmer Johnson does a little dance!
Creeks on the rise, roll up your pants!
Country girls, they wanna cuddle!
Kids out playin' in a big mud puddle!"

Then he began to sing the chorus again, this time LOUDER!

"Rain makes corn. Corn makes whis-kay.
Whiskey makes my baby…"
He began to laugh.
"Back roads are boggin' up," he sang "my buddies pile up in my truck!
We hunt our hunnies down! We'd take em into town!
Start WASHIN' all our WORRIES down the DRAIN!
Rain is a good THI-I-I-I-ING!"
Rain is a good thing…"

"Rain is a good thing! Rain is a good thing…"
Then he played a quick rift to the finish.

Everyone clapped for him, with smiles on their faces.
"That was AWESOME, home-school!" Tyler said, slapping him a high-five.
"Really awesome, Exzactial" Lindsay said with a smile.
"Ezekiel" Zeke corrected her.
"Right!" Lindsay said, tapping her forehead.
After that, Zeke just shrugged.
"It was just a song, eh?" he said.
"Dude, you get your banjo and we'll jam out to some country!" Trent said as Zeke handed him his guitar.
"Cool" Ezekiel said.
"But what should we do about the rain?" DJ asked,  pointing out the door.
Ezekiel walked over to a metal box near the door.
"I learned a lot of things in my first three days," he said "such as-"
He opened it, and pressed a few buttons.
Suddenly, awnings slid over the hot tub, the pool, the pool-side bar, and the towel racks. Then the hot tub and pool lit up.
"You could have TOLD us that those were there!" Courtney said angrily.
"Yes, I could, but YOU could have asked!" he said with a smirk.
Everyone went to change into their swim attire.
But Eva stayed back.
"Great job, Zeke" she said.
"I try, eh?" he said with a shrug.
"Well, you still brought us out of that bored mood." she said, and then planted a kiss on his lips.
"Thanks again" she said sexily, as she walked away, leaving Ezekiel with a goofy smile on his face.

"RAIN MAKES CORN!" everyone sang along the courtyard "Corn makes whiskey!"
Whiskey makes my baby, feel a little frisky!"
"Back roads are boggin' up," they all sang "my buddies pile up in my truck!
"We hunt our hunnies down! We'd take em into town!" they all sang "START WASHIN ALL OUR WORRIES DOWN THE DRAIN! RAIN IS A GOOD THING!"
They all clinked their drinks together, all laughing hysterically.
"Well Zeke, you sure know how to cheer a group up!" Cody said, handing him a smoothie from the poolside bar.
"Well, I try" he said.
"All right guys..." he shouted to everyone "ONE MORE TIME!"
They all cheered in agreement, the rain still going strong, keeping themselves warm in the hot tub and heated pool.
"My daddy spent his life lookin' up at the sky…." they all sang in a chorus, clinking their drinks together after every line.
This is a little homage to country artist Luke Bryan ([link]) and a little Eva/Ezekiel fanfic.

I pulled out my old story notes and thought 'eh; what the heck?"
