Well, with another semester in session, things are actually going pretty good.
Sure, it started off hard, what with being broke, but that was less than a week, and it usually happens every semester. I got used to all my new classes and hope to pass them with flying colors!
But I am no longer broke because just this past Wednesday, the check I was supposed to get for my summer class finally arrived, and it was $100 more than I expected, and I already have my other check for the first half of this on it's way as I type!
Anyway, with my 'bonus' check, I gave $100 to my grandma to make up for all the bus faire she's been giving me (I owe her mothe but she's not petty) and also let her use my card to buy parts for her car. I then figured out every book I need for this semester during the week and ordered them on Chegg, which was around another $100.
But I used another $100 (plus travel expenses) to head to San Francisco the other day. I went there because, with my birthday being on a Tuesday this year, I decided to celebrate it a bit early and treat myself to a day out in the big city.
(Also, all the movies I wanna see are no longer in theaters anymore...)
I did a lot more than I did last spring break, which was easier to do with more than just $40 and I didn't spend as much on food either! Instead of going to a sit-down restaurant, I got something to eat on Fisherman's wharf, and I'll tell you it is HARD to decide! An entire block of every restaurant selling the same things, but with different variations. I finally decided on a place my grandmother suggested, which was a half sit-down restaurant/half order to-go. After I was done, I bought a KISS poster at a place near Joe's Crab shack (no clue where I'll hang it with no bedroom...) then headed to pier 39 for rides, attractions, and sweets! I planned to go to the Walt Disney family museum, but it started to get late, so I walked straight from just past Fisherman's wharf clear to the BART station I took to get there, which was a long walk, but all the buses were PACKED!
I arrived home tired, with aching feet, and wanting to relax, but my grandma and I had plans to go to Safeway, and with me being able to treat myself (FINALLY!) I got 4 cases of pepsi, three of which are in our garage, and one right behind me, plus a huge sandwich and some bacon and eggs for whenever. We're planning on heading to Costco or Sams Club soon to REALLY stalk up on the essentials.
Anyway, I still got around $300 left, and some cash still in my pocket (I ended my day in San Francisco with a little less than $50 still in my pocket.) So I'll probably head out tomorrow to have someone break on of my fives into ones for bus faire and either with what remains of this check, or with part of the next one, I'll get bus passes for next month. I've done the calculations; if I go to school for 15 or more days out of the month, $60 is worth it, and usually saves me money. Sure, that's $180 for September, October and November, but it'll be worth it and I can use it every single day of the month, even when I don't have school. But, before any of this, I'm gonna make breakfast whenever tomorrow and put some of the bacon on my big sandwich halves to make an awesome lunch for the first two days this week.
After my books arrive, I will DEFINITELY get on top of the huge homework loads I should be getting. With 7 other people in this house, staying after school to do homework is a blessing in disguise, and with cash in my pocket, I no longer have to rush home if I am bored or hungry.
Will keep you guys updated during my ups and downs, later!
